Baltimore County State's Attorney Scott Shellenberger told C4 and Bryan Nehman that it is important to get lower-level criminals in a courtroom because oftentimes they lead to real criminals.

He said in Baltimore County, first-time offenders rarely get jail time because the judge is more concerned with getting that person the help they need. Shellenberger said he has a good, long-time working relationship with incoming U.S. Attorney Erek Barron, calling him a straight shooter.

He also said back in November, he looked at the addresses of the 35 people charged with murder in Baltimore County.

Shellenberger said he found that 24 had a Baltimore County address, 10 had a Baltimore City address and one had an Anne Arundel County address.
