A Baltimore County jury on Wednesday convicted a 20-year-old man from Brooklyn, Maryland, in a 2024 armed carjacking in Randallstown that seriously injured a woman and her 87-year-old mother.

Darius H. Wolfe was found guilty in Circuit Court for Baltimore County of armed carjacking, two counts of first-degree assault and use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence, according to the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors said the attack happened Aug. 21, 2024, on Brattle Road in Randallstown. A 66-year-old woman was unloading groceries from her car when she was confronted by three masked men armed with a handgun.

Authorities said the men got into the vehicle as the woman tried to retrieve her belongings or stop the carjacking. She was assaulted and ordered back, prosecutors said. When her 87-year-old mother came to help, the driver accelerated.

The 66-year-old woman was dragged by the vehicle, while her mother was run over, according to prosecutors. The younger woman suffered a brain bleed, a fractured toe and abrasions. Her mother was taken to Shock Trauma with a fractured pelvis, a collapsed lung, fractured ribs, a broken ankle and fractures in both legs.

State’s Attorney Scott Shellenberger praised Baltimore County police for their investigation, saying detectives used a vehicle tracker, license plate readers and surveillance video to locate the stolen car and identify Wolfe as one of the suspects.

Jurors deliberated for about 20 minutes before convicting Wolfe on all counts, prosecutors said.

Wolfe was represented by the Baltimore County Office of the Public Defender, which could not be reached for comment.

Another defendant, Reginald Belton, 19, previously pleaded guilty to armed carjacking, use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence and first-degree assault. He is scheduled to be sentenced April 20.
